What is the difference between Wet Rot and Dry Rot?
Dry Rot Fungus is the more serious of the two as it spreads throughout the timber, whereas, Wet Rot occurs more frequently but usually stays within one localised area on the timber.
Wet Rot
When there is excess moisture in the air Wet Rot is caused as the moisture is absorbed into the timber. The moisture softens the timber if left too long or goes unnoticed. Wet Rot is not a health hazard, however, can be unsafe within the structure of a building and should be addressed when it is found.

Dry Rot
Dry rot is a form of timber decay that can cause structural damage to your property if left untreated. It is important to eliminate the source of moisture and stop the spores from the rot spreading.
With Dry Rot being the more serious out of the two, it must be identified as soon as possible as the timber within the building becomes weak and brittle. Dry Rot gives an appearance of a dull muddy brown colour with fairly deep cracks. Poor ventilation and moisture can cause dry rot.
